Dim Sum Charlie's is a quaint little trailer selling Dim Sum out a side window. We found this little gem of a place in Napa California. All I have to say is Yummy!!! If you are in this neck of the woods I highly suggest you try it out!!!

Valentine Lunch

I thought this was the cutest idea EVER. I found it here and tried it out for my two girls for their Valentine's lunch. I used candy boxes from the dollar section at Target and filled it with food I knew my girls loved. The container on the left held cheese, cucumbers, olives, tomato, toast with cream cheese and blackberries. On the right is a heart shaped corn cake with honey butter - YUM!

Make your own lunchables

Does anyone else in the world have those mornings when you just don't have the time or the energy to make the perfect well balanced lunch to be sent to school with your child? My goal is to pack lunches the night before while I am making dinner. The food is out, I'm already in the kitchen, don't have to dirty things up twice - the perfect plan! Only problem is I almost NEVER meet my goal and I usually find myself dashing around last minute in the morning trying to pull something together. So for just those mornings I always have a few lunchables stashed away in my fridge that I can just toss in a bag and off we go. I know, I know BAD MOM! Do you know how much sodium is in a lunchable - yuck!!! But I have to admit it on occasion I do it - the worst part is those are the days my daughters come home from school and thank me for the best lunch EVER - argh! New plan, make my own lunchables with much healthier ingredients, store in the freezer and use these instead on "those" mornings. I actually use old lunchable containers - 'cause my kids think they are cool. I fill them with the same idea but the healthier version for example:

1. Shredded cheese
2. Low sodium salami
3. Low sodium tortillas cut in fun shapes
4. Organic Tomato Sauce

I cover them with Glad Press'n Seal Freezer Wrap, throw them in the freezer and they are good to go. So far my kids prefer these to the originals. I also make a cheese and cracker version.
