Morning Run/Bike Ride

This morning the girls rode their bikes around the neighborhood while I ran along beside them. This was a huge moment for us. I have seen moms in our area doing this for years and I have been longing to do it myself for quite sometime. But for some reason my children have never been into bike riding. Lindsay and I have been trying for the longest time to convince these girls that riding bikes is awesome and freeing and just plain fun but to no avail. Then finally about two months ago they got it and now there is no stopping them. Then this morning I decided to give the run/ride a try and low and behold it worked, it really worked - woot, woot!

Abi not looking too happy while riding but I promise she was in pretty good spirits for the ride.

Piñata Festival

It was hot today - really hot, but we braved the weather and ventured out to the Piñata Festival in Sacramento. I had read that you could make sugar skulls at one of the booths and seeing that this was a life long dream of Coco's we just had to do it. Luckily we did the skulls first because soon after we all began to melt from the heat and some serious complaining set in!!

Coco can finally cross this off her bucket list!!

Wicked

Lindsay surprised us this past Christmas and got the the whole family tickets for Wicked. The musical came here to Sacramento this June so we have all been waiting anxiously for our show day to arrive. Well it finally did this past Wednesday and what a night we had!!! I was a little nervous that the girls would be too young but that was not the case at all - they LOVED it!!! Lindsay and I loved it too - thanks babe for the perfect gift!!

Defying Gravity was definitely the girls favorite scene.

Hump Day Dinner

Sometimes Wednesday just needs a little something extra to make it not so middle of the week boring. Last night we went to Hot Italian to spice up our hump day dinner. We lounged on the couches, ordered amazing pizza and vino and ended it all with some gelato - yum. Quite indulgent for the middle of the week if you ask me, but oh so worth it!!!!

Halloween Block Party

6N16HADAYDEAD

Tonight on HGTV a show called "Halloween Block Party" will be featuring 3 Sacramento area homes that will be transformed into Halloween themed wonderlands - what fun!!! This would be a dream come true for me to be involved in a project like this. I can't wait to watch the show and then go and try to find the homes up in the Fabulous Forties neighborhood. Here is a link to the article in the Sac Bee this morning:

A Simple Emigrant Christmas

I just came across this in the Sac Bee Ticket section and thought it looked like a great activity for my girls. Weather permitting we will be stopping by tomorrow for a little old fashioned Christmas fun.

Cool Park

Southside Park, or as my kids call it Cool Park, is located in Sacramento at 2115 6th street. It is by far my kids favorite playground in the greater Sacramento area. We happened upon it by accident quite a few years ago and now it has become a frequent go to place for us. We also enjoy the Farmers Market held every Sunday across the street. I have heard that this might not be the best destination in the evening or later in the day and I must admit I am always very aware of my surroundings there and I don't love using the bathrooms (Not the nicest) but that being said we have never had any problems - only fun. We go primarily for the space themed play structures (there are two, one for the tots and one for the older kids) and normally don't venture out into other areas of the rather large park. The play structures alone are what keep bringing us back, they are unique and entertaining for the whole family!! If you have not taken your little ones to this park I highly recommend you give it a try - you just might become a regular :)

So Thankful

This year we decided to stay close to home to celebrate our day of thanks. The weather was glorious, the food scrumptious and the company (our fabulous neighbors) was perfect! We started a new family tradition this year - Sacramento's famed Run to Feed the Hungry. We gathered with 30,000 other people at Sac State and headed out on a 5k run/walk to support the local food bank. I will tell you it was amazing!! It felt so good supporting such an important organization and the feeling among the crowd was thrilling. Families and friends walking together to give thanks for what we have and to give just a little bit back to those who have less - what a perfect way to spend the day.
